Barriers and Bridges

Our brains are wired to see more barriers in our lives than bridges. For decades a large portion of our career and lives have been influenced by gatekeepers, bosses, societal expectations, and fear.

Once the pandemic hit, that pendulum swung, and while there have been terrible consequences of Covid-19, bright lights are illuminating through the darkness. One of the most brilliant of those lights comes from the fire of your life’s barriers being burned down. Gatekeepers no longer have the power they did, the authority structure of organizations is changing, and career/life opportunities not seen before are opening up for you as we speak. Always wanted to work from home or be a contract worker? The bridge has been built, and now you only need to cross it. Want to go back to school and be a therapist, lawyer, or programmer? Education is drastically changing, and so is the cost. Within the next 18-24 months, most programs will be a hybrid or have an online option. Instead of them choosing you, now they are begging you to choose them.

Pre-pandemic a smaller portion of your career and life was controlled by you. Now, your career and life are up to you. The only thing you have to do is come up with a plan and begin to make it happen. Don’t let the opportunity pass because your brain wants life to go back to the way things were. It is time for you to adapt, whether you are thirty or sixty-five. Barriers are gone, and bridges are being built, just for you.
